You’ll notice that it has a new look and a new mission! From now on, 20% of every purchase at the Coffee Co. will help support a global project with one of our strategic partners. Each quarter we will change the project and window panes so you will know where part of your purchase is going. The more coffee you drink, the more people we can help! Sounds like a great deal to me!
This quarter we are providing microfinance loans for small business owners in Mathare Valley, Kenya. These loans will help people living in poverty provide for their families while also building the local economy.
We are trying to help people like Sabina by empowering them to provide for themselves.
Sabina Mukonyo is a hard-working single mother of one. After being abandoned by her husband, Sabina found the hope and help she needed through Big Dent’s holistic program. Sabina successfully completed both the sewing and beadwork training programs within the last year, and started her own sewing business using a microloan from Big Dent to meet her needs.
Sabina’s ongoing participation in the “Pangani Support” microfinance group encouraged her to repay her first loan. Today, she needs a second loan to expand her growing business by buying more sewing machines and employing other trained workers.
