I always hear people say that their time on a mission trip is more of a blessing to them than those they intended to serve and my time in Guatemala was most certainly that. On the third day of our trip I was asked to give a sermon at the local church. The thought of this took me completely out of my comfort zone, but with prayer and a bit of wrestling, I listened and accepted God’s calling. With encouragement from the team and their prayers, God spoke clearly the message he wanted me to speak. The message I felt led to give was from Psalm 26, David’s instruction on how we are to bless the Lord. This seemed fitting even more so at the end of our trip, in retrospect, seeing as how I set out on this mission trip with my heart set on bringing glory to God through service and love for His people, and what I got was God’s beloved people of Guatemala showing even more love and blessings to me.
